Q1. HOW DOES IT WORK?
To be enrolled in our program all a mentor/parent has to do is call our office and inquire. They will be sent an application or can complete one from our website. Once we have the application, it will be processed and they will be called to set up an initial interview.

Q2. HOW OFTEN DO BIGS AND LITTLES GET TOGETHER?
We require four hours a month which can be broken down many different ways. However, our mentors can always spend more time with their little if they choose to.

Q3. WHAT SUPPORT IS PROVIDED TO OUR MATCH?
Support is offered to all bigs/littles/matches and wait list children on a continuous basis, through communication, trainings, social media and for any needs that may arise.

Q4. HOW DO I CHOOSE MY LITTLE?
Once a mentor has completed the enrollment process and has been interviewed, has had an hour long orientation and completed a two hour on-line training they are then given the option to approve or deny which mentee they would feel most comfortable mentoring at the recommendation of their Match Specialist.

Q5. WHAT DO I DO WITH MY LITTLE?
In the Community Based program matches schedule their own activities within the community such as riding bikes, day trips to the park, watching a movie or going out to dinner.  In the School Based program, Bigs join their Littles during their lunch hour (which is usually about 40 minutes) and spend that time either helping them do homework, reading with them, playing board games or playing out on the playground. All in all, they are creating lasting relationships.

Q6. DO BIGS RECEIVE ANY TRAINING OR HELP ONCE WE’RE MATCHED?
Absolutely! As stated previously, support is offered to all Bigs on a continuous basis, through communication, trainings, social media and for any needs that may arise.

Q7. CAN I CHOOSE WHETHER I WANT A LITTLE SISTER OR A LITTLE BROTHER?
All women mentors are matched only with girl mentee’s and All men mentors are matched only with boy mentee’s.

Q8.  WHAT IS A BIG COUPLE?
This is what we refer to as a Couple’s Match and we would match a waiting list mentee with a married couple to be mentored.

Q9. WHAT IF IT DOESN’T WORK OUT?

We like for our matches to turn into lifelong friendships, however, sometimes that doesn’t always work out. If a match doesn’t make it to their one year anniversary we do close their case out and the mentee goes back on to the waiting list to be rematched.

Q10. HOW LONG CAN A MATCH LAST?

A match can last until the mentee turns 18 and ages out of the program. Some of our matches that have aged out of the program go on to have lifelong relationships with their mentors!
